Super Silver Haze
Greenhouse Seed Co.

Hybrid
Origins: Skunk x NL x Haze
Flowering: 56-63 days
Harvest: late October

Originally bred by an obscure figure in the Holland marijuana scene, Super Silver haze has risen to become the Tiger Woods of the pot world. First place winner of three consecutive High Times Cannabis Cups for the hydro category (1997, 1998, 1999), Super Silver Haze also claimed first prize in the High Times Grand Cup in 1998.

Super Silver Haze combines the stellar genetics of three plants – the Skunk, Northern Lights, and Haze varieties – to deliver and all-around good indoor grower. This variety can also be grown outside in the equatorial zone, approximately between 35 degrees latitude North and South. While she is best grown hydroponically, Super Silver Haze has not let her stardom go to her head. She will produce highly resinous and strongly pungent flowers in most indoor growing setups. The colas get pointed on top when mature, and are more open than compact, which …

Why There Is No God: Simple Responses to 20 Common Arguments for the Existence of God "Science can't explain the complexity and order of life; God must have designed it to be this way." Book of the Day "The Ebony Exodus Project: Why Some Black Women Are Walking out on Religion and Others Should Too"

Image
The Ebony Exodus Project: Why Some Black Women Are Walking out on Religion and Others Should Too    Black women are the single most religious demographic in the United States, yet they are among the poorest, least educated, and least healthy groups in the nation.
Drawing on the author's own past experience as an evangelical minister and her present work as a secular counselor and researcher, The Ebony Exodus Project makes a direct connection between the church and the plight of black women.
Through interviews with African American women who have left the church, the author reveals the shame and suffering often caused by the church - and the resulting happiness, freedom, and sense of purpose these women have felt upon walking away from it.
This audiobook calls on other black women to honestly reflect on their relationship with religion and challenges them to consider that perhaps the answers to their problems rest not inside a church, but in themselves.

Book of the Day "Emancipation of a Black Atheist"

Image
Great journeys often start with a single question. For D. K. Evans, a professional in the Christian-dominated South, that question was, "Why Do I Believe in God???"
That simple query led him on a years-long search to better understand the nature of religion and faith, particularly as it applies to the Black community.
While many taking such a journey today might immerse themselves in the writing of Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens, Evans took inspiration not only from John Henrik Clarke, Yosef-Ben Jochannan, Hubert Harrison, and John G. Jackson, champions of a rich Black tradition of challenging religious orthodoxy, but also from many others in his own community who had similarly come to question their core religious beliefs.
While this journey eventually led him to discount the notion of God, he calls on all to ask their own questions, particularly those within the Black community who act on blind faith.
   While their own jo…

Scientists Have Created New Type of Living Organisms

Image
Scientists Have Created New Type of Living Organisms...  These “biological machines” could one day live inside the human body.

Scientists have created a new life form using stem cells scraped from frog embryos. Researchers from the University of Vermont (UVM) and Tufts University built these, now termed "xenobots," named after the African frog species Xenopus laevis. The xenobots are one millimeter-wide and act like living, self-healing cells, but they are technically robots.
They can walk, swim and work together! Refined, they could be used inside the human body to reprogram tumors, deliver medicine or remove plaque from arteries.

"These are novel living machines," says Joshua Bongard, computer scientist who co-led the research. "They're neither a traditional robot nor a known species of animal. It's a new class of artifact: a living, programmable organism."

Using a supercomputer, researchers from UVM ran an evolutionary algorithm to d…

Book of the Day "The Way of the Heathen: Practicing Atheism in Everyday Life"

Image
So you're an atheist. Now what? The way we deal with life - with love and sex, pleasure and death, reality and making stuff up - can change dramatically when we stop believing in gods, souls, and afterlives. When we leave religion - or if we never had it in the first place - where do we go?

With her unique blend of compassion and humor, thoughtfulness and snark, Greta Christina most emphatically does not propose a single path to a good atheist life. She offers questions to think about, ideas that may be useful, and encouragement to choose your own way. She addresses complex issues in an accessible, down-to-earth style, including: Why we're here, sexual transcendence, how humanism helps with depression - except when it doesn't - stealing stuff from religion, and much more.

Aimed at new and not-so-new atheists, questioning and curious believers, Christina shines a warm, fresh light on the only life we have.

Book of the Day "Why Are You Atheists So Angry?"

Image
Why Are You Atheists So Angry?: 99 Things That Piss Off the Godless     Why are atheists angry? Is it because they're selfish, joyless, lacking in meaning, and alienated from God? Or is it because they have legitimate reasons to be angry - and are ready to do something about it?

This accessible, personal, down-to-earth book speaks not only to atheists, but also to believers who want to understand the so-called "new" atheism.

Why Are You Atheists So Angry? drops a bombshell on the destructive force of religious faith - and gives a voice to millions of angry atheists.

Book of the Day "Religion and the Decline of Magic"

Image
Witchcraft, magical healing, divination, ancient prophecies, ghosts, and fairies were taken very seriously by people at all social and economic levels in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century, from the belief that a blessed amulet could prevent the assaults of the Devil to the use of the same charms to recover stolen goods.

At the same time the Protestant Reformation attempted to take the magic out of religion, and scientists were developing new explanations of the universe. Keith Thomas's classic analysis of beliefs held on every level of English society begins with the collapse of the medieval Church and ends with the changing intellectual atmosphere around 1700, when science and rationalism began to challenge the older systems of belief.Helplessness in the face of disease and human disaster helped to perpetuate this belief in magic and the supernatural.

As Keith Thomas shows, England during these years resembled in many ways today's "underdeveloped areas." …

Spirituality Before Religions: Spirituality is Unseen Science...Science is Seen Spirituality by Prof Kaba Hiawatha Kamene (Author), Nelson Ford (Illustrator)

"Spirituality Before Religions, delves deeply into many ideas researched by many brilliant writers and scholars. My ultimate purpose is to synthesize these writings into a comprehensive study of ancient African Deep Thought with Tep Heseb, the Kemetic process of accurately reckoning by using the correct method of analysis. This clear and concise philosophy guided early humanity into the heavens on earth, while creating a heaven on earth.
African educator, Dr. John Henrik Clarke teaches us that to be self-sufficient, people have to see the Creator when they look in the mirror. If not, they will never have a healthy “self-concept.” He reminds us, “Anytime you turn on your own concept of God, you are no longer a free man or woman. No one needs to put chains on your body, because the…

Book of the Day "Behold a Pale White Horse"

Said to have predicted 9/11, former US naval intelligence briefing team member Bill Cooper reveals classified information kept in secret government files since the 1940s. Cooper tells of the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the war on drugs, the secret government, and UFOs. His lucid presentation of this information transcends partisan affiliations as he clearly addresses issues in a way that has a striking impact on listeners of all backgrounds and interests.

"Like it or not, everything is changing, and the end result will be the most wonderful experience in the history of man or the most horrible enslavement that you can imagine. Be active or abdicate, the future is in your hands." (William Cooper, October 24, 1989)

The Case Against Miracles - Get It Now

Image
This book is flying off the shelves! And for good reason! For as long as the idea of “miracles” has been in the public sphere, the conversation about them has been shaped exclusively by religious apologists and Christian leaders. The definitions for what a miracles are have been forged by the same men who fought hard to promote their own beliefs as fitting under that umbrella. It’s time for a change.

Enter John W. Loftus, an atheist author who has earned three master’s degrees from Lincoln Christian Seminary and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Loftus, a former student of noted Christian apologist William Lane Craig, got some of the biggest names in the field to contribute to this book, which represents a critical analysis of the very idea of miracles.

Incorporating his own thoughts along with those of noted academics, philosophers, and theologians, Loftus is able to properly define “miracle” and then show why there’s no reason to believe such a thing even exists.

Church Claims it Saves Ex-Gang Members but Actually Steals From Them

Image
A large black church organization SPAC Nation that claims to work toward reforming former gang members and ex convicts is actually robbing its members, putting many of them in debt by taking out loans for pastors with lavish lifestyles.

SPAC Nation, sometimes referred to as a cult, gets lots of positive media coverage because most of its members are former criminals  sincerely trying to work toward a better life through "God". But an in-depth investigation from Huffington Post concluded that the church “created conditions for fraudsters to flourish within its ranks” and failed to act as pastors financially exploited members.

Ex SPAC members have spoken out against shocking cases at the church. The pastors are targeting young black people from impoverished areas and “broken homes” and isolating them from their families, then exploiting them for money!

A HuffPost investigation has found evidence that some pastors at the church have pressured the young black people they are …

Book of the Day "The Age of Reason"

Image
Thomas Paine's The Age of Reason; Being an Investigation of True and Fabulous Theology, was a best seller in America, where it caused a short-lived deistic revival.
Promoting a creator-God while advocating reason in the place of revelation, Paine's controversial pamphlet caused his native British audience, fearing the results of the French Revolution, to receive it with more hostility than their American counterparts.
This passionate and engaging recording of Paine's classic is as certain to provoke modern listeners to thought as it did his original audience.

Book of the Day "The Magic of Reality: How We Know What's Really True"

Image
Richard Dawkins, evolutionary biologist, presents a gorgeously lucid, book examining some of nature's most fundamental questions both from a mythical and scientific perspective.

Science is our most precise and powerful tool for making sense of the world. Before we developed the scientific method, we created rich mythologies to explain the unknown. The pressing questions that primitive men and women asked are the same ones we ask as children. Who was the first person? What is the sun? Why is there night and day? The myths that address these questions are beautiful, but in every case their beauty is exceeded by the scientific truth.

With characteristic clarity and verve, Dawkins answers these big questions. Looking first at some of the myths that arose to answer the question, he then, dazzles us with the facts. He looks at the building blocks of matter, the first humans, the sun - explaining the life and death of stars; why there's a night and a day - ranging from our solar syst…

Book of the Day "On the Historicity of Jesus: Why We Might Have Reason for Doubt"

Image
The assumption that Jesus existed as a historical person has occasionally been questioned in the course of the last hundred years or so, but any doubts that have been raised have usually been put to rest in favor of imagining a blend of the historical, the mythical, and the theological in the surviving records of Jesus. Historian and philosopher Richard Carrier reexamines the whole question and finds compelling reasons to suspect the more daring assumption is correct. He lays out extensive research on the evidence for Jesus and the origins of Christianity and poses the key questions that must now be answered if the historicity of Jesus is to survive as a dominant paradigm. Carrier contrasts the most credible reconstruction of a historical Jesus with the most credible theory of Christian origins if a historical Jesus did not exist. Such a theory posits that the Jesus figure was originally conceived of as a celestial being known only through private revelations and hidden messages in …

Book of the Day "Caught in the Pulpit: Leaving Belief Behind"

Image
What is it like to be a preacher who no longer believes in God? In this expanded and updated edition of their groundbreaking study, Daniel C. Dennett and Linda LaScola comprehensively and sensitively expose an inconvenient truth that religious institutions face in the new transparency of the information age - the phenomenon of clergy who no longer believe what they publicly preach.

In confidential interviews, clergy from across the ministerial spectrum - from liberal to literal - reveal how their lives of religious service and study have led them to a truth inimical to their professed beliefs and profession. Although their personal stories are as varied as the denominations they once represented, or continue to represent - whether Catholic, Baptist, Episcopalian, Methodist, Mormon, Pentecostal, or any of numerous others - they give voice not only to their own struggles but also to those who similarly suffer in tender and lonely silence. As this study poignantly and vividly reveals, th…
